Open House Schedule

Create your own schedule of events based on the activities below. The main program begins at 9 a.m. and everyone is encouraged to attend. Please Note: This schedule is subject to change and the most up to date version will be available upon check-in at the Open House.

7:30–9:00 a.m.—Check-in and Registration 
First Floor, Bone Student Center
There are multiple check-in tables available in the concourse.

7:30–8:25 a.m.—Early Bird Quad Tours

8:15–8:45 a.m.—Student Panel

8:15 - 8:45 a.m. - What can I do with this major?

Come learn about career opportunities for students with liberal arts majors.

9–10 a.m.—Main Program—Everyone is encouraged to attend 
Braden Auditorium, Bone Student Center (doors open at 8:15 a.m.)
Vice President of Student Affairs, Levester Johnson, and Director of Admissions Jeff Mavros welcome you to campus.

10–11:30 a.m.—Academic and Student Services Fair 
Brown Ballroom, Bone Student Center
Visit with academic advisors, faculty, and staff who will answer questions regarding coursework, career, internship, and research opportunities. All of our academic departments will be represented as well as Admissions, Financial Aid, University Housing Services, Campus Dining Services, and many other offices.

10 a.m.–2:30 p.m.—Quad Tours 
Braden Auditorium (east entrance), Bone Student Center
Student-led walking tours of campus will be available continuously throughout the day. These tours last approximately 20-30 minutes. Campus tours do not include a tour of residence halls or the Student Fitness Center as those tours are separate sessions. Guests are encouraged to visit academic buildings as those are open and accessible throughout the day.

10 a.m.–3:30 p.m.—Residence Hall Tours 
Hewett, Manchester, and Watterson
Residence hall tours last approximately 15 minutes on a rotation as guides become available. Tours depart from the residence hall. Additionally, a show room is available in the Community Center of Cardinal Court, which primarily houses sophomore students. A campus map is included in the materials you receive as you arrive at Bone Student Center for today's program. University Housing Services will be available during the Academic and Student Services Fair to answer questions regarding housing on campus.

10 a.m.–2:30 p.m.—Student Fitness Center and McCormick Hall Tours

Take a guided tour of our new, state-of-the-art fitness center. 

10:15–10:45 a.m.—An Introduction to the Honors Program
Circus Room, Bone Student Center 
Hear from the Honors Program about enhancing your academic experience at Illinois State. Learn more about what Honors students are doing on and off campus.

10:15–10:45 a.m.—Financial Aid Session 
Old Main, Bone Student Center
Find out everything you need to know about financial aid deadlines, forms you need to complete, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), online resources, services offered by the Scholarship Resource Office, and more.

10:15–10:45 a.m.—Pre-Professional Majors
Founders Suite, Bone Student Center
Students who are interested in professional school, like medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, and physical therapy, etc can learn more about undergraduate major options and specialized advising at Illinois State.

11:00 –11:30 a.m.—Financial Aid Session 
Old Main, Bone Student Center
Find out everything you need to know about financial aid deadlines, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), online resources, services offered by the Scholarship Resource Office, and more.

11:00–11:30 a.m.— Preparing for Your Career
Spotlight Room, Bone Student Center 
Learn how Academic Advising can help in planning your major and how the Career Center can help develop your future career.

11:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m.—Fine Arts for Non-majors
Circus Room, Bone Student Center
Learn about non-major opportunities to participate in art, dance, music, and theatre.

11:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.—Making a Successful Transition
Circus Room, Bone Student Center
Attending college is a significant transition not only for students, but for parents, guardians, and family members as well. Attend this session to learn about some of the differences you will encounter between high school and college, and leave with practical tips to make the transition easier for everyone.

11:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.—Student Panel

11:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.—Your Redbird Community

Come learn about our diverse student organizations and how you can get involved in your Redbird Community.

11:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m.—A Focus on Transfer Students

Find out everything you need to know about transferring.

Noon–1 p.m.—Lunch (on your own) 
You are welcome to dine at any of the restaurants in the Bone Student Center, Watterson Dining Commons, or Linkins Dining Commons. The dining center only accepts credit or debit cards for payment. Additionally, a list of nearby restaurants is included in the Open House App.

1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m.—Student Panel

1–2 p.m.—Academic Presentations 
(Various locations)

These presentations are an opportunity for academic departments to provide a more in-depth overview of their programs. A list will be provided during the day's program of those areas hosting a presentation.
