Community College Transfer Scholarship

The Community College Transfer Scholarship is a highly competitive and prestigious award for community college graduates attending Illinois State University. The awards are valued at $2,000 per year. Some are renewable for an additional year; some are for one year only. The awards are based on academic merit rather than on financial need.

More than 100 community college students compete for the awards and are among the most academically talented students from throughout the state and the nation. Scholarship winners often are members of Phi Theta Kappa, the academic honor society of community colleges.

Who may apply?

Application for this scholarship is by invitation only. This program is highly competitive and selective. Candidates must be first-time students at Illinois State University, have a cumulative transfer grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale as calculated by the Office of Admissions at the time of application, and complete an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree prior to enrolling at the University. Students who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered.

Invitations are emailed (to the email address you used to apply for admission or your ISU email if you have activated it) during the month of March to qualified candidates who have been admitted to the University; therefore, it is imperative that students apply for admission to Illinois State during the preferred filing period to ensure their admission in time for consideration for this scholarship.

Candidates must submit the online scholarship application including a 500-word essay and an official transcript showing fall grades (if those grades are not reflected on the transcripts currently on file with the Office of Admissions). The deadline was Monday, April 8, 2013. Late applications are not considered.

Contact the Office of Admissions at (800) 366-2478 or via email at admissions@IllinoisState.edu for more information about the Community College Transfer Scholarship.

Honors Program

Candidates for the Community College Transfer Scholarship are also invited to apply to the University's Honors Program. Within that program, students form a unique learning community whose members share similar abilities, aspirations, and curricular expectations.

The Honors Program challenges and engages academically talented students with a variety of unique experiences. Honor students enjoy:
