Open House Schedule

Create your own schedule of events based on the activities below. The main program begins at 9 a.m., but feel free to arrive earlier.

8-9 a.m. - Residence Hall Video
Circus Room, Bone Student Center
Before you take your residence hall tour, get a student perspective of what residence hall living and campus dining are really like. The video will run continuously and lasts 18 minutes.

9-10 a.m. - Main Program - Everyone is encouraged to attend
Prospective Freshman Students - Braden Auditorium, Bone Student Center
Transfer Students - Old Main Room, Bone Student Center

An overview of the Open House program, a video presentation, student panel, and details about the admission and selection process will be presented.

10-10:30 a.m. - A Focus on Academic Enrichment
Circus Room, Bone Student Center
Hear from the director of the Honors Program about enhancing your academic experience at ISU. Learn more about what Honors students are doing on and off campus.

10:15-11:00 a.m. - Financial Aid Session
Old Main Room, Bone Student Center
Find out everything you need to know about financial aid deadlines, forms you need to complete, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), online resources, services offered by the Scholarship Resource Office, and more.

10-11:30 a.m. - Academic and Student Services Fair
Brown Ballroom, Bone Student Center
This gives you an opportunity to visit with academic advisors, faculty, and staff who will be available to answer questions regarding coursework, career, internship, and research opportunities. All of our academic departments will be represented as well as Admissions, Financial Aid, University Housing Services, and many other offices.

10 a.m. - 2:30 pm - Campus Tours
Braden Auditorium (east entrance), Bone Student Center
Student-led walking tours of campus will be available continuously throughout the day.  These tours last approximately 20-30 minutes. Campus tours do not include a residence hall tour.

10 a.m. - 2:30 pm - Residence Hall Tours

The residence hall tours last approximately 20 minutes and are available upon arrival.  To assist you in finding your way, a campus map is included in the materials you received as you arrived at Braden Auditorium for today's program.  University Housing Services will be available during the Academic and Student Services Fair to answer housing questions.

10 a.m. - 2:30 pm - Student Fitness Center and McCormick Hall Tours Student Fitness Center and McCormick Hall
Take a self-guided tour of our new, state-of-the-art fitness center. Staff will be available throughout the facility to answer questions.

11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. - A Focus on Diversity
Circus Room
Students and parents from traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged to attend this session to learn about the current climate of the Illinois State campus and hear students talk about their experiences on this predominantly white campus.

11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Financial Aid Session
Old Main Room, Bone Student Center
Find out everything you need to know about financial aid deadlines, the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), online resources, services offered by the Scholarship Resource Office, and more.

Noon-1:00 p.m. - Lunch (on your own)
You are welcome to dine in any of the restaurants in and around the Bone Student Center.

1-2 p.m. - Departmental Showcases
Departmental Showcases are an opportunity for individual academic departments to provide a more in depth overview of their programs.

Where do I park?

Open House visitors are encouraged to park in the Bone Student Center visitor parking lot on Locust Street. Parking validation will be provided in your Open House program. When you arrive, please proceed to Braden Auditorium, Bone Student Center (rather than Hovey Hall where the Office of Admissions is located).

All dining centers accept cash and credit/debit cards. The cost is $5.85 for breakfast $8.25 for lunch.

There are also a number of other restaurants within walking distance of campus, including several in Uptown Normal.
