Please note: we are currently accepting applications from transfer, former ISU, and graduate students for fall 2012 and spring 2013.

Visit Welcome2ISU to create an account today. You'll use it not only to apply for admission, but also to check the status of your application and, if you are accepted, to take your next steps for financial aid and housing.

When you apply, you'll need to know some basic information such as:

your Social Security Number—(if you have one) used only to verify your identity,
your ACT or SAT score—if you are a freshman or if you are a transfer student with fewer than 24 earned semester hours,
your cumulative high school and/or college GPA—transfer students with fewer than 24 earned semester hours must provide both high school and college GPAs,
your courses you are currently taking or will take before you come to ISU, and
your intended major—if you have chosen one.

Freshman students must also upload or enter an academic personal statement. Visit our blog for advice on writing a great personal statement. Transfer students may also provide an academic personal statement if there are circumstances which affected the student's academic performance that the Office of Admissions should know about when making an admission decision.

Applying online is the preferred method of application. If it is necesary to use an alternate format, the undergraduate application can also be downloaded and printed.

Application Fee Information

New students are required to submit a $40 nonrefundable application fee or apply for a fee waiver.

Applicants who may be exempt from the fee include:

those who may qualify for an economic hardship waiver,

veterans who served on active duty for a minimum of one year,

former ISU students returning to the same degree level, and

permanent employees and retirees of Illinois State University.

Your application will not be processed until the $40 application fee or fee waiver verification is received. The fee or waiver verification must be received by the supporting document deadline for the term for which you are applying. The fee will not be returned to applicants who are denied admission or applicants who fail to submit the necessary information for an admission decision.
