Redbird Athletics
Supporting Redbird athletic teams is the most exciting way to make friends and get involved on campus. Strong competition and a long tradition of excellence make it fun for students to join the student fan base, known as Red Alert, to pack Hancock Stadium for football games in the fall and raise the roof of Redbird Arena during basketball season.
Illinois State Redbirds continually lead the pack in the Missouri Valley Conference, winning the 2010 Valley All-Sports Trophy and finishing in the top five for 29 straight years. Since joining the conference in 1982, Redbirds have brought home 142 league titles—more than any other conference school during that period. At the same time, Redbird athletes maintain a department-wide GPA of at least 3.0 and volunteer
more than 2,000 hours of community service each year.
