The Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship available to new freshmen. Presidential Scholars receive up to $44,000 ($11,000 per year, renewable for up to four years). To be considered for this award, you must complete your application for admission during the preferred filing period (September 1–November 15).
The minimum credentials to compete for this scholarship are eligibility for the Honors Program (3.5 or higher cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale) and at least a 30 ACT (or equivalent SAT). This select group of students are invited to apply for the Presidential Scholarship. The Office of Admissions will contact eligible applicants between October and December with the scholarship application process. A separate scholarship application must be submitted by Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
All complete scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. A select group of students will be invited to move forward to the semi-finalist stage of the competition. Semi-finalists must be available for an on-campus interview in February/March. Although important information will be mailed to your home address, please also check your email regularly for updates. The email address submitted on your scholarship application will be the one used for communications.
Students who complete the application process for the Presidential Scholarship but are not offered the award will automatically be offered a Redbird Academic Scholarship.
Recent Presidential Scholars have had an average ACT score of 33 (or equivalent SAT) and an average cumulative GPA of 4.0 (or above) on a 4.0 scale. All Presidential Scholarship applicants will be notified of their status no later than mid-March.
