An international student holding the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree from a recognized international post-secondary college or university, as determined by the University, may apply for admission.
You must answer questions about your academic background and provide demographic information. There is a non-refundable application fee of $50 USD that you must pay by credit card when you apply online. Your application will not be processed until the fee has been paid.
One transcript in the native language and one translated in English by a certified translator must be provided from each school or university attended. These transcripts may be scanned and emailed for an admissions review. All official transcripts, including your degree certificate/diploma, is required to be sent if accepted at the University.
Federal regulations require you must prove you have financial resources to pay for your first year of study at Illinois State. Your Declaration of Finances are demonstrated by showing an electronic bank statement or letter dated within one year prior to the date classes begin. This documentation is not required when you apply for admission, but we will need it to process your I-20 and acceptance packet.
You must submit either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) from a test you’ve taken within the past two years.

GRE general test scores are required for applicants to most master's degree programs and all doctoral programs. A student or scanned copy will be accepted in the review process.
